Dear Students,

 

As per the recommendations of NEP 2020, CBSE has introduced the Two Board Examination Policy, notified on 25 June 2025. Under this policy, Class X students will be given an opportunity to improve their performance in up to three subjects during the Second Board Examinations scheduled in May 2026.

 

LOC will be submitted by the schools for all desirous students. As for the first time, CBSE will hold the Second Board Examinations in Class X, hence, to know the correct figure of students who wish to appear in the Second Board Examinations and to also to know the subjects in which they wish to appear, CBSE has decided to make the schedule of submission of LOC in such a manner that all required information is available with the CBSE in advance to make the foolproof preparations of the examination.

The CBSE has announced the Class X results on 15 April 2026 and issued a circular regarding the second phase of LOC (List of Candidates) submission. Students are required to carefully follow the instructions mentioed below as Phase 2 to ensure compliance. Here’s a clear step-by-step outline for students to act accordingly:

Who can appear in the Second Board Examination?

  • Any student who has passed the first examination and wishes to improve performance.
  • Students in the Compartment category may also appear under the same category.
  • Students of 3rd Chance Compartment.

What if my name was not submitted earlier?
  • If your name was not included in the First Phase of LOC submission, your school can now submit it and pay the examination fee.

What if my name was already submitted earlier?

  • You can pay the examination fee now.
  • You may also withdraw your name if you no longer wish to appear.
  • You can change the subjects you had selected for the Second Examination.

Can I change my Mathematics option?

  • Yes.
  • Students who took Mathematics (Standard) in the Main Examination may opt for Mathematics (Basic) in the Second Examination.
  • Students who took Mathematics (Basic) may opt for Mathematics (Standard).

How many subjects can I improve?

  • You may improve performance in any three subjects out of Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages.

Are sports students eligible for second Board Examination?

  • Yes, as per policy if the Board had already given them permission, their names can be added during this schedule.

What about CWSN (Children With Special Needs) candidates?

  • Only those registered as CWSN in the first examination will continue to receive facilities if appearing in Second Board examinations.
  • No new candidate will be considered for exemption under CWSN Category in Second Board Examination.

What happens if I pay the fee but don't appear?

  • If your name is submitted and fee paid, but you do not appear, your Main Examination 2026 result will be treated as final.

What syllabus will be used?

  • The Second Examination will be conducted on the same syllabus as the Main Examination 2026.

Where can I find the schedule for fee payment and LOC submission?

  • The schedule is provided in the official CBSE circular and must be followed strictly by schools.
